Look

Photography has been part of my life since I was a kid.

In the late ’90s, I built and photographed with a pinhole camera and had a darkroom under the stairs. I was as interested in how a picture was made as I was in the finished photograph, and that curiosity stayed with me.

Over the years, I made portraits in studios and on location. I learned to work with available light and flash, and spent a lot of time studying, experimenting, and figuring out what made a photograph work. Some of that earlier work still means a lot to me, even as I see things I'd approach differently today.

Photography hasn't been a constant in my life. I've stepped away from it at different times, but I never lost interest. Now I'm returning to portraiture and taking the time to develop my skills further.

Wildlife, architecture, and landscapes are subjects I'd like to explore more deeply, too. This site brings together photographs from different years of my life, with room for new work as I make it.

I’m not trying to become the photographer I once was. I’m trying to become the photographer I haven’t been yet.
